Individually Florian Kallus and Sebastian Schneider are trained carpenters with a completed education in product design. Together, the duo form KASCHKASCH, a design studio that questions prevailing norms of everyday demands. By combining traditional craftsmanship and a mindset geared towards innovation, disruption and new technological solutions — Infusing this very approach into every element of Villeroy & Boch’s Antao collection.
Inspired by the rich variety of nature, KASCHKASCH conducted an intensive study on the perfect imperfect shape of dewdrops. Resulting in an award-winning concept characterised by organic colours and asymmetric shapes, that harmoniously blend into one fluid collection.
Consisting of washbasins, bathroom furniture, mirrors, taps&showers , toilet, and a freestanding bathtub. Antao stays true to its concept with high-quality natural textures and robust, premium surfaces such as ceramics, stone and solid wood. Featuring a washbasin that is as unique as a dewdrop, no two wash basins are the same. For more flexibility and design freedom in bathroom planning, KASCHKASCH offers homeowners washbasins in three sizes and two installation configurations.
Answering the call for energising and calming spaces, KASCHKASCH rooted the collection with mellow earthy colours that imbue the collection with the rejuvenating essence of nature. The palette is complemented by natural furniture colours such as Stone Grey, Leaf Green or Midnight Blue. With one particular highlight being the organically shaped Antao illuminated mirror which comes in three different configurations and can set the perfect mood in the room with atmospheric background lighting.
Another point of interest for Antao is the free-standing bath. The perfect place to let time stand still and replenish your energy, KASCHKASCH encapsulates the collection’s asymmetrical fluidity while meeting the highest requirements in terms of ergonomics and functionality. The bath is made from the robust and innovative Quaryl® the exclusively material from Villeroy&Boch, blending 60% quartz with high-quality sanitary acrylic to ensure a bath that is not only durable but feels pleasant to the touch while keeping the water nice and warm for a very long time. The slender rims and a depth of 48 cm provide maximum space for exceptional bathing comfort.
KASCHKASCH impressed juries at the Red Dot: Design Award and the iF Design Award in 2023 earning them an award with Antao’s coherent design and high-level functionality.
